अर्थ - "Earth" (1998) Deepa Mehta`s Masterpiece: Ruth Aa Gayi Re

Posted on 02:44 by Unknown

ruth aa gayi re ruth chhaa gayi re...
The season has arrived, it has spread...

pili pili sarson phule
The yellow, yellow mustard plants have blossomed;

pile pile patte jhume
the yellow, yellow leaves sway.

pihu pihu papiha bole
The cuckoo cries "peehoo, peehoo."

chal baag mein
Come into the garden.
dhamak dhamak dholak baaje
The drums thunder and pound;

chhanak chhanak paayal chhanke
anklets tinkle and jingle;
khanak khanak kangana bole the bracelet speaks with a clash.

chal baag mein
Come into the garden.

chunari jo teri urti hai ur jaane de
If your scarf flies away, let it fly!

ruth aa gayi re ruth chhaa gayi re...
The season has arrived, it has spread...

giton ki mauj aayi phoolon ki fauj aayi
Waves of song have arrived; an army of flowers has come.

nadiya mein jo dhoop ghuli sona bahaa
The sunlight which melts in the river flows like gold.

aambuyaa se hai lipti ek bel bele ki
A jasmine creeper has wound around the mango tree.

tu hi mujhse hai duur aa paas aa
You alone keep your distance; come near me!

mujhko tu saanson se chhu le Touch me with your breath.

jhool in baahon ke jhool le Swing in these arms; swing,

pyaar thoRa sa mujhe deke having given me just a little of your love!

mere jaan-e-dil tu le
Take my heart and my life;

ruth aa gayi re ruth chhaa gayi re...
the season has arrived, it has spread!

pili pili sarson phule
The yellow, yellow mustard plants have blossomed;

pile pile patte jhume
the yellow, yellow leaves sway.

pihu pihiu papiha bole
The cuckoo cries "peehoo, peehoo."
chal baag mein
Come into the garden.

dhamak dhamak dholak baaje
The drums thunder and pound;

chhanak chhanak paayal chhanke
anklets tinkle and jingle;

khanak khanak kangana bole the bracelet speaks with a clash.

chal baag mein
Come into the garden.

chunari jo teri urti hai ur jaane de
If your scarf flies away, let it fly!

bindiya jo teri girti gir jaane de
If your bindi falls off, let it fall!

chunari jo teri urti hai ur jaane de
If your scarf flies away, let it fly!
ruth aa gayi re ruth chhaa gayi re...
The season has arrived, it has spread!

tu jab yuun sajaati hai
When you adorn yourself like this,

ek dhum machaati ha
i you cause a ruckus

saari galiyon mein saare baazaar mein

in all the lanes, in all the markets.

anchal basainti hai usmein se chhanti hai
Your scarf is hemmed in the yellow of springtime; it is filtered through (spring's color).

jo main ne puji hai murat tihare mein
That which I have worshipped is in your face.

jaane kaisi hai yeh dori
God knows what sort of thread this is

main bandha huun jis se gori
which has bound me (to you), o lovely one.

tere nainon ne meri nindon ki kar li hai chori
Your glances have stolen away my sleep.

ruth aa gayi re ruth chhaa gayi re...
The season has arrived, it has spread!
